Quarter of all Gamers are Over 50

ABC News just had a great article and video come up on their website about the aging Americans who are getting back into the gaming scene. The story talks mostly about the growth of gamers 50 years old and up. 25% of people over 50 are now gaming. This is up from 10% last year according to the ESA.

This isn't big news for us in the casual game side of the market as CGA numbers have numbers showing that 62% of all women casual gamers are over 35 years old. 72% of all men casual gamers are over 35 as well.

Though the story focuses mostly on the Nintendo Wii, it is a great look into the gaming market for people in their older years and how gaming is getting hip again with people over 50. This has great benefits for the casual game industry as it continues to grow too.
