RealNetworks Acquires Trymedia for $4 million

Seattle based company RealNetworks has announced the acquisition of Trymedia, a casual game syndicator owned by Macrovision. The purchase adds approximately 250 partners to RealNetworks, doubling their number of partners.

This continues RealNetwork's strategy of building reach through syndicated distribution partnerships online. This also comes after the announcement of the purchase of the world-wide gaming network SPILL GROUP at Casual Connect Amsterdam.

“Trymedia has been a leader in the digital distribution space, so together we have a full portfolio of syndication services that we can offer partners,” says Harold Zeitz, senior vice president of RealGames.

Trymedia has 60 employees world wide with offices in the San Francisco bay area; Fribourg, Switzerland; Alicante, Spain and Maidenhead, U.K. Some of the companies Trymedia deals with in syndication are AOL, Yahoo!, Telstra, IGN and T-Online.

In a conference call earlier today, Macrovision stated that RealNetworks purchased Trymedia for $4 million. The purchase will be finalized by the end of Q1 of 2008 according to RealNetworks.
