User Generated Games Come to The Mobile Phone

Playyoo, a mobile casual community site, has introduced itself to the public with the ability for gamers to create their own games for their mobile device. Playyoo allows gamers to easily create their own games on the mobile phone and then release them to anyone who is interested in playing them. Some have even called Playyoo the “Youtube of the mobile gaming.”

Playyoo uses Flash Lite for its games and allows gamers the chance to put up their high scores, ratings, and comments onto the Playyoo website. Last February, the company completed a contest for game developers to create games for the site. 20 winners were announced with the first place winner receiving $10,000 for a mobile match-3 Columns game.

"Since we first unveiled our preview site in October, Playyoo has generated strong interest within the Flash Lite and gaming communities,” says Chris Pelly, CEO of Playyoo. “We've had visitors from 82 countries on 162 mobile networks on our mobile site, and we are seeing an enthusiastic and growing community of early adopters on our web site, including several leading Flash Lite game developers,"

If you want to learn more about the company, there is a great blog post by Kars Alfrink about his presentation on the company at GDC Mobile 2008.
